About project

According to the latest statistics available, produced by the EU-supported “Euro HIV” network in 2005, 23.620 newly diagnosed cases of HIV infection were reported in the European Union. Among the 22 EU countries with consistent reporting of HIV, there has been nearly a doubling in the number of reported cases since 1998: from 9,264 in 1998 to 17,043 in 2005. Latest figures released recently by UNAIDS confirmed that the numbers of new infections are increasing throughout the 25 EU Member States and in its east European neighbours.

The project “E-AIDS - An e-learning environment for HIV/AIDS education” aims to strengthen the education and training on HIV/AIDS prevention through an e-learning integrated environment by using innovative pedagogical approaches and new online learning and training methodologies. This project is a follow-up of a Grundtvig 2 project on the topic of HIV/AIDS education. The aim of the Grundtvig 2 project, called “Education for counteracting HIV/AIDS”, was to create a syllabus which was oriented to adults who would be able to play the role of HIV/AIDS prevention instructors.
